Went on a trail walk today. A first for me… I think… Nah. I am sure I must have done this before at some point. But this time with my wife and one of my wonderful daughters. There was a choice of a 1 mile and a 3 mile course. The goal was the 1 mile course. But one wrong turn
doomed us meant we went down the 3 mile course. With good humored company we had a great time. Once again I brought along the Sigma sd Quattro – 30mm f/1.4 Art kit.
With the bright spots and shadows of a trail setting an image capturing device better able to capture a broad dynamic range would make sense (Cough. Sony. Cough.). But what fun is that? What really upended me at first was AF. But I must also admit the low light conditions and my demands (No, not that twig. The twig behind the leaf… and then the leaf behind that.) would have made it difficult for even the best AF available to keep up. What to do? Easy. MF with focus peaking.
The result? Had a great time and my fiddle foddling around with the camera did not delay proceedings too much. The ladies were very kind and patient waiting for me when a distraction caught my eye.
Here are the resulting images below.
